When I mentioned I had heard of this a couple years ago it was made clear to me that it was 60 days, probably precisely because if you look at the expiration date of your United Club it is right on the edge of those 60 days. Chase doesn't want to pay for the primary benefit and then have you cancel.
My United Club membership expires exactly three months after annual fee posted so I'm not sure this is relevant to "grace period". Also, a couple of years ago I had this same card and cancelled it right at the end of the grace period and after I received a new United Club Card. It didn't take long for united.com to show that my United Club membership was cancelled and any attempt to enter the club using the boarding pass would be rejected. Some agents would let me it when I showed that I had a valid card, but many would not because the computer said "no". So there is a way for Chase to revoke membership in United Club even after they issue new card.
