Lost Luggage – Not glamorous I know

- But I feel the longer I leave things with WORLD TRACKER, the less chance there is of me ever seeing my luggage again.
- Is there a BA email I can send something like the note below to?

REFERNCE LHRBAXXX
Good morning
I flew from Hong Kong on Wednesday 20th January on booking XXXXX.
My luggage didn’t make the connection at Hong Kong and so didn’t fly with me.
I wasn’t informed that my baggage had been delayed either on board or at the ramp and so waited at the carousel for all the bags to be delivered.
I went to baggage enquires and received a rather lacklustre response from the woman working there. Any question I asked was greeted with the response “What do you mean by that”.
So I’d ask “Will my baggage be on flight BA32 tomorrow?” and the response was “What do you mean by that?”
So finally it was confirmed that my baggage would be on BA arriving at 04:50 on Friday 22nd January.
- As an aside I’ve never had luggage go missing with BA at Heathrow – With other airlines the process has been painless. My only experience with BA has been at Dusseldorf where if luggage had been delayed the check-in staff would be waiting in the baggage hall with their podium and would seek out those who baggage was delayed.
On Friday 22nd January I hadn’t heard anything by lunchtime and the website hadn’t been updated, so I gave Baggage Tracing a call. I was told that baggage had arrived and was waiting for the Courier to pick it up. The call was followed by a text message from WORLDTRACER saying 5 Courier – CITY BAGS Pick Up at 12:00 – the text gave me the CITY BAGS web address to track my bags.
I self-edited the address & bag detail etc. as they were incorrectly entered
The CITY BAGS site showed just 4 bags (bag 4 was missing - CXXXXX17) and 4 bags were delivered.
I called WORLDTRACER and the agent said with conviction that one bag had been delayed clearing customs and was waiting to be picked up by the courier and that my bag would be with me later that evening.
At some point the WORLDTRACER website was updated and showed that bag 3 was missing.
Calls followed and I was told that my bag had probably gone to a ‘Central Baggage Area’ and that I would have an update Saturday morning.
My reference number was changed at some point from LHRBAXXXXX to LHRBAXXXXX
Having heard nothing I called back Saturday lunchtime and was told, again with conviction, that everything was fine – All 5 bags had been located and were in Hong Kong and would be on the next BA32. I explained that I had 4 of the 5 bags – The agent seemed unshaken. I asked the agent to confirm the tag number of the missing bag and was told that it was CXXXXX07 – Bag 3 – I asked the agent to change this to CXXXXX17 – Bag 4 – he said that he would do this. He told me I should wait up to 24 hours for my luggage.
Later when the change hadn’t been made a called the Executive Club Number – I was told that I should use the first Reference Number as that is where all the details were held.
I called WORLDTRACER explained about using the first reference number and was told “No, you will need the 2nd number when you claim for your luggage being lost”. She confirmed that the luggage tag details had not been updated and the correct tag details appeared some time later. I was told this time that I should wait 24-48 hours for an update.
Sunday morning I found the FIRST helpline – A lady in Manchester who took a description of my bag and said she had a contact who would go and look in the bag room for me. She called back after 30 minutes and said that they’d looked but hadn’t been able to find my bag – She was so helpful and I feel that if I’d been given their details earlier there is a far greater chance that I’d have been reunited with my bag by now.
It’s 10:50 now – so another 2 hours or so and it will be 48 hours since I was given a 48 hour deadline by WORLDTRACER – I don’t hold much hope of them contacting me.

Kind regards
