Dear all - Firstly Happy NY and all the best in the Year of the Monkey!! New here on FT - what a great, informative site. Please excuse my ignorance as I am not all up to speed on the jargon, abbreviations, etc. Need your comments and possible assistance on the following:

My husband and I will be travelling to the States coming 28Jan and returning 14Feb; flight segment in question is HKG-LAX and LAX-HKG. I am presently booked on a paid revenue Business Class and husband on waitlist for a Companion Ticket of same class. At the present moment, only the HKG-LAX is confirmed whereas LAX-HKG is waitlisted. Understand an available redemption seat would have to open up before he is confirmed, but there are about 16 seats still available in Business on the return leg. Does anyone here have knowledge and/or can input the chances of the Companion Ticket being confirmed with few more days till departure. Also, his waitlisted reservation is still up an showing on Manage Bookings but had a deadline of 24Jan 18:00. We have called and emailed MP and The Club on numerous occasions, but have received the same standard replies.

In the meantime, we have already booked him an Economy ticket on the flight in case the redemption does not go through.

FYI, we have previously booked several Companion Ticket redemptions but these were to Europe and with redemption seats confirmed available before issuing the paid revenue ticket. Unfortunately, this time the LAX sector was waitlisted from the beginning.
