Some hotels are really good, but some are rather dire. The basics crew must have in a hotel is en-suite, ability to control temperature, not on the ground floor and not next to the lifts.

The hotel we stayed in in MBJ was lovely but when we stayed in PSA the hotel was grotty and in urgent need of updating- the wallpaper and paint was peeling off, you could be in bed and open the window and turn the tv on without moving much. Also, you'd never want to put the top blanket under a UV light... The staff were great though and always treated us well with brilliant discounts on food/drinks.

In the MAN days we stayed in a Novotel which was dreadful as the guests from the Jeremy Kyle stayed there too.
