Also, I think of this as a bit of an exercise in creating good karma. I do my best to choose gifts I think the recipient will like and send them off trusting they will be received in the spirit they were sent. When I receive gifts I do my best to thank the senders if I can identify them. Beyond that, I just try to enjoy the process.
