I am more concerned about a fully loaded 747 taking off from SAN. It didn't work in the 1990s when they went via PHX. I realise SAN is easier to manoeuvre around now, but the main runway is still the same..
I could be wrong but I think they used the 747-100/200 back then. The 400 could make all the difference?
