Assuming BA does care, they still wouldn't be in a position to handle your claim, or have the responsibility to do so, unless they operated the final flight in either direction.

Customer Relations/Baggage claims are not (yet?) a combined function between IAG airlines. BA cannot assist here, even if they want to.
