I was wrong about that. However $ 420 in fees for the same flights is absolutely excessive.
What I am wondering about is if I should create an Avios household account vs a BA Executive household account (as explained in that link). I can create an individual Avios account for my father, transfer miles from his BA Executive Club account into that account. Then create a household *Avios* account for both of us. And finally close the Avios household account and split the miles n such a way that they all end up in my individual Avios account (he does not use them so he does not mind). Apparently that can be done by filling out a form. Then, finally I can transfer out of my individual Avios account to Iberia. All of this sounds very convoluted, and it probably is... since I have never done this, I am not sure this is going to work.
