You should be able to ask at checkin to have them only checked as far as SIN, because it's an overnight stop.

Baggage handling at SIN is pretty reliable you can check bags through overnight if you want to, so you could consider making sure you have what you need in hand luggage (or if you have 2 bags check one to KUL and the smaller to SIN)
