I had a previous discussion on 10.2.2.2 before http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post25040951 and in that case the OP couldn't rely of it because prior agreement of CX not sought before OP in that case rerouted himself?

But in this case, does CX have any right not to agree to QR rerouting?
The CX CoCs refer to CX ('we') cancelling a flight.

Here the flight was cancelled by Gulf Air, and CX is acting as the agent for Gulf Air in issuing the ticket for carriage.

Those particular clauses in the CoC probably have a more immediate effect... for example a cancellation on the day of departure, or within a few days/week of departure. Even EU regulations - which are pretty tough - don't cover a cancellation this far in advance.

I'd still ask CX for a routing on another airline - having first researched the appropriate flights. But I'm not sure if there is a strong consumer case for forcing CX to honour that.
