Yes, they've just expanded the very invasive searches to people with IDs as well
I showed up at OAK a few months ago without a valid ID. At check-in, the agent accepted an old student ID and gave me a "*SSS*" boarding pass (to replace my regular-security one). I got to the front of the security line and tried to explain that I didn't have a valid ID, but the woman there just kept repeating "ID please." So I showed her the same expired student ID. She procedded to chastise me for pretending I didn't have a valid, government issued, ID...
So I could have used a check-in machine, my expired student ID, and skipped the very invasive search.
