Buying a long-distance ticket
Bookings open 60 days in advance.
You can sometimes get discounts for purchasing in advance.
You can select seats.
You can change ticket online.
Tickets can either be printed at home, although in practice having the reference code or SMS is sufficient.
1. Open
CP's website
1. Enter your origin and destination.
a. In Lisbon, there are multiple stations. Search from "Lisboa-Oriente" to see all possibilities.
Some trains will also stop in Lisboa-Entrecampos, and others will stop at Lisboa-Santa Apolonia, but all stop in Lisboa-Oriente
b. In Porto, you want Porto-Campanhã to see all trains.
2. Select a train that you want (radio button on the right side of the page), click on 'Buy'
3. Select the class and the number of people travelling. Click 'Continue'
4. Enter the names and passenger IDs/Passport Numbers.
5. To the right of the ID/Passport number, select the type of ticket.
6. If there is a promo available, and you selected a full price ticket another box will appear and will let you select the promo ticket. These are non-refundable/non-changeable. (see attachment)
7. Select Seats. If you want to change your seat, click on where you're sitting first, and then click the seat that you want. Direction of travel is at the bottom

8. Enter payment info. CP plays nice with international credit cards.
9. Print the ticket.
If you purchased a changeable ticket and need to change it, you can make changes online.
NOTE: If the station has a ticket machine or a ticket counter, you must have a valid ticket to board the train.
Discounts (select in step 6)
Promo (full price ticket) - nonrefundable/non-changeable
You get a 10% discount for buying a round-trip ticket.
Seniors 65+ get a 50% discount on long-distance trains.
Children and youth get discounts as well (proof of age required).
