CE fares become cost effective if there is a Saturday night involved. And a return. But! It doesn't have to be a CE return. And! It doesn't need to be PMO either!
So CE single from PMO is: 427€
Return, with a Saturday night is: 464€
Return, Saturday night but "returning" ET is: 393€ - so we are saving money already
Or:
PMO-LHR//LGW-AMS - on one ticket CE throughout: 415€ (on the basis that the AMS service is going to be useful).
But! You can in theory (OK it's an ITA Matrix:
PMO-LHR//LGW-AMS, CE from Italy, ET from LGW: 323€
Now you'd have to call in for this, but it does work. Now believe or not, CE singles from PMO are pretty cheap, so this delta disappointed me since, for example, MAD, the saving can be much greater.
For me the interesting thing about all this is that the Saturday night rule, and the One-Way rule, are still in force in Europe when I thought they went out with the ark.
For what I paid in this instance, even now with the knowledge I can't UuA or POUG, I'm still comfortable with what I got for £65
Thanks again for all the knowledge so generously imparted ^
