Slight shift on the topic, but...

I suppose you've noticed that new TIM's ad featuring the young lad who is travelling through Europe, and the TIM's mug clipped to his backpack keeps on breaking the ice with other Canadians he finds on his journey.

Well, a few weeks back when I was in Tokyo, I spent the day out on the Teleport site visiting the Marine, Shell, Dinosaur Dig and Technologies museums, among other spots in this part of the harbour. I was shooting some video of aircraft on approach to Haneda airport -- perfect shots through the open space between the two towers of the Teleport building -- when a young Japanese man approached me. I was wearing my blue windbreaker, which because it is Cdn Armed Force's issue, has a large CANADA* logo on the back, and it was that emblem which caught his eye. He spoke to me in pretty good English "You're from Canada, eh?" and smiled. Then he showed me his TIM's mug clipped to his small student backpack, and we both chuckled. He had studied in Vancouver and Toronto and felt very much a part of both cultures, liking Canada so much that he wore the mug proudly. [Guess he felt it was more appropriate than one of the Cdn flags most young travellers stitch onto their backpacks.]

Upon further inquiry, it turned out he had last been in Canada early last year, so claimed he knew nothing of the current ad campaign.
