Expand, to what end? For the high value flyer (for whom the miles and points don't matter much but the status may or may not for treatment, IRROPS, etc.), DL has a much better product in front cabin of the 2 cabin equipment, and AA still has a 3 cabin transcon (JFK/MIA) and a premium domestic lounge. Expand with more RJs? Speaking for myself, when UA went to a bunch of teeny RJs on many routes, I just switched to WN. I'm not the only one.
