Well DeltaAssist just came back with 6-digit alphanumeric one, saying "the KE confirmation code is XXXXXX (they're always 6 characters not 8)."

THANKS for whoever mentioned that KE has a chat service. I was able to get the 8-digit PNR from them, and then using chat figured out that korean air needed to do some "manual amendment" to link their PNR with the 006-ticket, and finally got seats assigned
