But I haven't seen any online reviews complaining about theft out of luggage, or lost luggage. Checking in luggage is another $10 US and up depending on weight.
first, i'm really glad my first MR post got some traction. i've learned a lot in the MR forum (well, except the FD secret handshake and ring decoder) and taken advantage of several deals (or modified deals to my nearest airport)- enough to be UA 1K and AA ExP for next to nothing when factoring RDM.

my experience is that Air Asia weighs EVERYTHING! i've seen locals board the plane wearing all the clothes for their trip and then stripping them off at their seat!

you can make it more of a locals experience by taking the bus or train to SIN. if this is a vacation/mr and you are planning a full carryon or even a checked bag, then there is always avios (i'll assume most of us have some avios hanging around). KUL-SIN 4500 avios + $15. i assume most all of us have OW status, making the baggage free. if a pure MR, Air Asia, even if you have to pay a few bucks for extra carry-on weight, may be cheaper.

regardless of which way you go, be mindful that if you're going the 10 days around Chinese new year, flights (and everything) are full and air ticket prices are much higher than normal.
