Did your PE cabin have 4 rows along the windows and 3 in the middle? It sounds like you were just in the forward mini-cabin of standard economy to me.

This is what I believe I flew on. The ticket was bought through BA and sold as PE. When I used the toilets in economy I could see the seats there were not the same as PE.
The flight was Syd to HK on Tuesday this week.
