With AA from NY to So. Cal, you've discovered, IMHO, the airline which may have the most variety on those routes- AA has three-class 762s from JFK-LAX for when the fare is right or when someone else is footing the tab and soon to be LRTC 757s on the routes that compete with JetBlue, with prices (current r/ts around $210, $299 walk-up fares), and AAdvantage miles (and full elite benefits regardless).
