How do you get a passport into that state?

I carry my passport in my trouser pocket (sometimes front, sometimes rear) in a tropical climate everyday. Due to heat, I sweat heavily most days. I also have to open my passport at least once everyday on average for ID check.

My passport is in far better condition than that and is over 06 years old.

German passports seem quite well made. They obviously aren't!

Or do you carry your passport everyday and open it multiple times a day?

ETA. The MRZ stopped working on mine after a year or so. But the binding, cover etc is all still fine. Mine is UK passport. I do have to explain why MRZ does not work to UKBA each time entering UK. Otherwise lack of working MRZ causes no problems. Immigration officials can check the MRZ manually anyway.
