AA Platinum Visa Signature

I wanted to convert this card to the Double Cash Mastercard. Was told that the system doesn't show ANY credit card to product change. I'm guessing the problem is that my card is a Visa, and the one I want is a Mastercard. The rep. was able to give me $95 back (to be credited on the next statement). At least I get to keep the card for another year, but I really want the DC without having to apply for it (and get a HP).

Has anyone recently converted an AA Visa Plat to a Citi Double Cash?! Or is this really a no no? I called twice, and got the same. Maybe I try tomorrow earlier to get an US based CSR.

Has anyone been able to product change a Citi AA Platinum VISA to the Double Cash Mastercard? Or is this only an option for Citi AA Platinum Mastercard holders?
