I completely agree. And yet last year, I achieved more CC points for my husband and me than i did in 2014. Both years, we exceeded 1MM combined points. In 2014, we each had 2 AA MC that earned 100K points. That was 400K right there. Sweet. On to 2015. Banks were drawing tighter rules in terms of allowing bonuses multiple times. I didn't think I'd achieve my 2014 level. And yet I exceeded it nicely. How? Mostly it was plugging along at 30/40/50K bonuses. I did get one 100K AMEX bonus. Along came the AA checking account bonus for 50K each. The points will post in 2016 but I counted it in 2015 as I completed all requirements then. I didn't count the funding I did on CCs for the two checking accounts and the two savings accounts that I opened. If I had, that would have been another 80K or so. Near the end of the year, I learned about the Crystal Visa Infinite card. We both applied and got a total of 200K points. Ka-ching.
I keep an annual spreadsheet of CC bonuses. So far this year, there is one lone BofA AS card. It doesn't feel as if it will be a good year. I hope that I am proved wrong just as I was in 2015. I know that the game will go away at some point. Til then, I'll keep plugging away.
