So it may not have been 'closed' on the weekends but...there was no breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. I could still get in and get some water or soda, but the breakfast was in the main restaurant. There also was no booze at least on Saturday night so we went to the bar. The drinks in the bar were not free. I didn't even think to ask about something in the way of a comp for booze. I'm forgetting my timing; it is possible that we arrived back at the hotel after 9:30 and that there had been booze on Saturday, but my gut tells me we got there around 9:00 PM and there was nothing to be had save for water and sodas.
