No problems at all.

However, it is very much possible to renew an ESTA before it expires if one wishes to. I did this before my last trip as it was due to expire mid-trip and I'd rather have the first entry at Shannon instead of in a long line in the US to make sure I could use the machines as re-entry ESTA.
