Not great if you actually want to spend time together. A recent return flight with the Mrs in row 1 of the 744 after some years if 777 and A380 had me conclude that there are no really great seats on the 744. As a coupl we normally go for 2 seats stacked one in front of the other (typically 2 and 3K) on other aircraft. I think this works well on the 777 too but the 744 cabin gets quite claustrophobic (relatively) in row 3 back.
