Dallas resident here planning to give American/DFW a shot after a lengthy A-List Premium/Southwest run out of Dallas Love Field. While I prefer Love Field to DFW I think it's time to switch things up and reap more benefits with American.

My Question: I plan to do the Platinum challenge for $200 + 12.5K Miles flown in 3 months. After I reach Platinum status, if I sign up for the American Airlines/Citi credit card - will the 60,000 AAdvantage miles count towards the additional 50,000 EQM miles needed to achieve Platinum OneWorld Sapphire?

Am I understanding this process correctly or am I way off base? Please Advise.
