Way2Ride has been around for a couple years as a payment app. I vastly prefer using it to paying with cash or a traditional card, as I don't have to fumble with my wallet while getting out of the cab, and I get the receipt e-mailed to me. I do kind of miss the original sync system where you held your phone's mic up to the TV speaker and it would divine which cab you were in based on some encoding in the audio (manually typing in a numerical code from the TV screen may be more reliable, but it's much less fun).

When Way2Ride first launched the e-hail function (they launched a beta a full year ago, and it went live in April), it was pretty useless as drivers seemed to ignore it. Although maybe it's better now? I haven't tried it recently, as if I'm going to e-hail a car, I'd much rather have a cheaper Gett/Lyft/Uber without a plastic divider to smash my face against in a crash. Although I suppose if Lyft and Uber are on surge and no Getts are available, using Way2Ride's e-hail capability is a possible backup that I might use some day.
