SPG now allow you to earn points for meals when you're not staying.
As a member of Dining Rewards - I am entitled to a 25% discount on food and beverage - that program specifically states you do not need to be a guest to benefit from this discount.
I have often walked into a IC hotel and enjoyed a drink, some finger food or a complete meal, flashed my card got the 25% Discount.
This is what I pay $399 a year for.
Its is not called security.
