In SEA there is a dedicated, short line to the immigration officer dealing with failed machine attempts. So you are still through very quickly. In LAX, you get sent to the back of the main immigration queue, with all the first time entrants. So you are through in an extra 90 minutes

It does depend on the airport. Miami didn't have a "X line", you just joined the masses in the regular line.
Anyone know the answer to this then. So last we went to the US last year Mrspoincianakings was traveling on a passport with her maiden name. This time she has a new passport in her married now. I am about to apply for her new esta but wondered if she will be rejected by the automatic machines since whilst her fingerprints will match her surname won't.
