Blogndog, you should hear about some of the stuff Indian citizens of ethnic Chinese origin go through at US CBP just because they are ethnically Chinese and have Chinese family names (and often Christian first names). It's probably no better for Pakistani citizens of ethnic Chinese backgrounds, even as there are very few such persons in numbers relative to ethnic Chinese Indians.

CBP should be monitored better by way of numbers. Some of it happens already, but way more needs to happen.

I doubt it is that simple. And the above first paragraph's second/last sentence is very much in doubt because such treatment by CBP would be at least as ridiculous but probably not built upon the same type of prejudices as that experienced by the Australian woman with Pakistani background.

The time CBP takes to process Australian citizens who are perceived to be of only ethnic European origins is probably less than the time it takes them to process Australian citizens who are perceived to be of West/Central/South/East Asian backgrounds.

Just like I have little doubt that WAW takes longer to process "brown" US citizens than it takes to process US citizens perceived to be of just European ethnic origins.

Unfortunately, racism is too often alive at ports of entry. And it shows up in how people are processed by border control types.
