I was on a 744 (SFO -> NRT) on Friday and the entire system had to be reset as well (or at least for the upper deck) and the Linux distro that was running seemed to be quite old (~2006). One has to wonder that if the distros are that old that they may not be the most stable or secure (think back to the guy who hacked the plane not that long ago)
