Selati

Selati Game Reserve

Closest towns: Phalaborwa and Gravelotte.

Closest commercial airport: Phalaborwa (PHW). Daily scheduled flights to JNB only, operated by SA Airlink. The airport is located on the outskirts of Phalaborwa, its runway runs parallel to the KNP boundary fence.

The reserve is not contiguous with the KNP, lying further to west towards the Drakensberg. It is 30,500 hectares in size, consist mainly mixed mopani/bushwillow woodlands and mixed marula/bushwillow woodlands. The Ga-Selati River bisects the reserve, which at present does not support lion or buffalo populations.

The Selati G.R. is privately owned. A company by the name of EcoTraining organizes ranger training courses in the reserve. There are no other commercial lodges or activities that I’m aware of.
