I had my first DL flight in years today (status-matched refugee from AA), flying PDX-ATL-LGA. Offered to bid on VDB on kiosk, and I bid $300 (lowest offered was $200). At the gate they were offering $500, and I took it. When he took my BP I just asked "$500, right?" to clarify, and that's what I got.
There were two agents- one who was acting as a "supervisor"- trying to get gate checks and the inbound flight deboarded and turned for the 5:09PM departure who called me up and made the original offer. She passed me off to another agent- who was rebooking people from the previous 2:50pm delayed flight- this agent was the one who told me no.
