I see what you're saying. And I do find it absurd. Its bad enough a hotel stay isn't 24 hours. "normal" check in is 3pm and 12 checkout for 21 hours. With these properties you are paying for 19 hours. That's a huge difference imo. And absurd is a good word for it.
Anyway, as a Plat guest I felt I should get more - although it appears I don't (although I might based on their good graces). Quite annoying but as you have pointed out it's competitive in the area.
