There are no official limits although you will often find Tesco staff making up their own rules eg you can only buy gift cards with cash/debit cards, only 2 per person etc etc
The only thing to watch out for when buying multiple cards in one transaction is that Tesco's tills are notorious for not activating gift cards properly. Make sure before leaving the store that you have a separate activation slip that matches each of the card numers you have purchased. It's easier to sort out there and then rather than realise when you get home or a few days later that something is amiss
