Yes, but there's several hundred miles between the west coast of Ireland and LHR, which makes the "midpoint" distance even shorter. I mean heck, SNN is probably the westernmost "large" airport on the European side of YYT-LHR, which brings it down to 1691 nm, which basically makes YYT-LHR about 650nm shorter for the "over ocean" part.
And, I'm pretty sure that TER is a closer diversion point than YYT or anywhere in Europe for a large part of the trip.
And that's the difference.
YVR-OGG, your diversion points are YVR and OGG.
YYT-LHR has at least one other that's midway through the trip (although a fair bit south), which means there's never a risk of having to fly 1200 nm with only one engine.
