Thank you for the awesome response, javabytes. You're very well informed, and funny, too. Looks like it's almost impossible to go wrong here. Good to hear that the middle seats allow for easy conversation. I'll probably go for row 3 all across, seeing that the kids would rather look out of the window than talk to each other, as I suspect. The kids have never flown J before and this is supposed to be a surprise, so I'm looking to maximize their experience! Thanks again.
Yeah I'd second the idea of all-4-across rather than 2 in front and 2 behind - you can at least turn and talk to all 4 people if you have the row, whereas in order to even see the people in front or behind you, you'll have to stand up and walk to their row.
