Hello everyone,

I haven't frequented this forum for Etihad very much, but I got extremely upset just now and didn't know where else I might get answers. My mother is travelling by Etihad right now (just about to push off the gate), and she was just charged $300.00 at the gate for having a carry-on bag with wheels that extend beyond the bag body!

Is this a new thing with airlines? I have never experienced anything like this. The bag was under weight since it only had some small gifts for family and a sleeping pillow, and it still fit perfectly in the carry-on size checking rigs that they have at the gates.

I am so furious because there is nothing posted on the Etihad website about this and it was pure extortion since I could have taken the extra bag back with me had this been mentioned at the check-in counter.

I had booked Etihad for my mother over other airlines thinking the experience would be better, but never again!
