Does QR have any Ex-US routes to South Africa for this same time period? Why would only one sale period include the end of December?
I know why you're asking and I checked for you. The answer for your desired travel period unfortunately is 'no' at the moment. As I said, be patient and something else may come along. It is best to wait until you can get exactly what you want for a price you find acceptable.
No need to secure anything right now. Oil is low and airlines are profitable. Prices are more likely to drop than go up. Reason QR can 'stunt' now (I suspect) is because they don't hedge their oil prices so they profit from the low price right away. Maybe other ME3 carriers (Ethiad or Emirates) will follow, but also keep an eye on AF/KL from Canada. Not likely to stunt but you never know. They are strong in Africa. Every once in a while ET (not the alien but Ethiopian Airlines) has crazy prices. Bit of a trek via DUB, BRU, CDG and ADD (if you don't have to add GBE) though.
Loads of options. Stick around here and you'll be an expert before you know it!

PS: If you are in a hurry, you can book for December (18th for instance) until January 4th (but many other combinations) on the Airfrance website for US$ 5739 for two. YUL to JNB.
