Keep in mind that the US averages a mass killing (killing of more than 1 person in a singular event) every single day. 36 people per day are killed in the US in gun related attacks.

So while this is tragic, Jakarta's population of 10m+ has a significantly lower "murder rate" than any city in the US. Jakarta had just 68 murders in 2014. So while the murder rate in the us is 4.8 per 100,000. So Jakarta murder rate per 100,000 was just 0.68.

People didnt stop flying to LA due the San Bernardino terrorist attacks. Be vigilant like in every city and dont draw attention to yourself.

And Im writing this waiting for my ORD-NRT-CGK flight to depart.
