Well, I don't know what kind of dancing or what kind of music you like, but one of my favourite places in downtown is the Commodore Ballroom, which dates from 1929. I haven't been there for a long time, but friends have and they say the renovations they did a few years ago are pretty good. The Commodore has a sprung dance floor, which really starts to move with the dancers! I think they take some table reservations for some shows and they are right downtown. They are one of the House of Blues venues and the shows seem pretty varied and eclectic.
