Check your travel insurance to see if it covers any extraneous benefits such as GPU's. They won't be referred to as GPU's in an insurance policy, so you will have to read carefully, but that is your only hope.

There are a lot of these threads and you won't find, if you switch to a different program, presuming that you are based in the US, treatment better elsewhere (hope you never need to ask for this again).

People get sick, injured, lose their jobs, get pregnant, their job travel gets curtailed and so on. All of those are good reasons beyond the traveler's control. But, they are built into the program and AA/UA/DL all count on some % of the certificates not being used. It's called "breakage" and it's one of the reasons for the fairly generous nature of the program.

Good luck on the insurance front. If your policy does cover, please post back as many here would find that useful information.
