Its a resort. My latest reservation states this:

Please Note: the W Fort Lauderdale is unable to offer early check-ins. In addition, as we are classified as a resort, we may not be able to extend the SPGŪ elite member benefit of a 4:00PM late check-out.

I have managed to get a few hours extra in the past, however.
