From my experience in the financial services industry, I would recommmend that you think about getting some solid work experience in there somewhere. I can't tell you how many PhD candidates our recruiting committee would pass on, if they didn't have any practical "hands on" knowledge on their CV.
We had a strong preference for MBA candidates with several years of work experience after their undergraduate degree as well.
Just some advice, for what it is worth.
