FWIW, that poster is DM who got IDB from an ex-EWR flight, booked using Asia Miles, he/she was already in the lounge, although CX has since apologized and compensated him/her.

Hearing your story, my suspicion is CX has outlined guidelines to outports for IDB which includes award tickets, regardless of what I've heard. While the EWR agent seems to have booted the DM member by accident - that situation makes zero sense to me, especially the way it was handled (in the lounge!) - 2 threads in 2 weeks makes me think
The EWR case was this one right http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post25949304 ? Eventually CX admitted they should use CIV not fare code as their US basis.

I dunno about ex-HKG tho - from the SGN case http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post25124409 it seems CX picks on the passenger least likely to give resistance and/or ask for comp.

That reminds me. My SIL and the two brats leave tonight for SYD. I've probably got the only redemption tickets on that bloody flight - it's J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 E0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 right now (all flights tonight are). I hope they don't IDB because I will never hear the end of it. Pray for me.

I OLCIed them (not trusting them to do it themselves) on the 48 hour dot even if it meant running into my study with my freshly twisted ankle from the afternoon.
