When you say "transfer", are you referring to a fare break?
How did you change the selected segment -- change times, fare class, ....
Did the unselected segment change to higher or lower than before?
Did it change to agree with the selected segment ?
Dealing in the abstract is going to make this difficult to discuss.
Thanks, I'll try to give some more details.
Regarding 'transfer', I don't think it's a 'fare break', but perhaps I'm not sure what to call it. What I mean to do is, for a ticket for SFO-MUC done as SFO-ORD-MUC with 2 hours in Chicago, to refer to the fact it's routed through ORD.
Then as for how I'm searching: I changed as little as possible. I just want the second flight of the day instead of the first. So
> 'Where and when do you want to fly?'—I left it alone (no change of date or from/to)
> 'What is your fare preference?'—I tried leaving it alone (default: 'Lowest Available Fare') and also specifying the fare class (e.g., selected 'Enter specific classes of service: (ex. Y, B, M)' and entered ad hoc W,V,U,Q); same result either way.
> 'How would you like your flight results displayed?'—left it alone (default: 'Search By: Price')
Whatever I select from the results are appropriately reflected on the subsequent summary page showing the old price total and the new price total. However segment 1 is changed to T (from W). So then I cancel and feel confused.
On a related note, I can't figure out where a link exists to view fare rules for a reservation already purchased.
