Interested in anyones thoughts?
I wish to fly to Denver on 27/12/16 returning on 5/1/17 with my family of 4. I'm in the fortunate enough position of having a GGL joker which will probably get me avios seats despite the holiday season. But then I noticed that DUB/LHR/DEN/LHR/DUB fares around christmas are pricing in at around €1,100 each in J. So I am thinking that I might try to get a fare like that and combine with a day or two in Dublin to get over there in the first place.
As of now, availability for 5/1 is not in the system and won't be for a few days so I can't get a definitive solution. Either way, the 27/12 is the one day in the week when BA does not operate the DEN route so I would need to go outbound to somewhere like DFW/LAS/LAX/PHX and pick up a short hop onward connection, thereby making it an open jaw itinerary... unless I also chose to return from the same entry point. On dates a week or so earlier when a straight DEN return from DUB costs €1,100, a similar open jaw itinerary costs nearly double that.
Any thoughts on how I might be able to get the family out in J for around £1k per head on my dates...or should I just bite the bullet and burn the Avios? If you don't want to clog the thread, (as I have just done

) feel free to pm any responses. Thanks!!
