Avios bookings can't be upgraded for cash in advance, but if there is availability for an AUP (special thread for this in the Dashboard) then it can be obtained. Actually the place to do this - unless the CCR person has a solid blue namebadge on, which sometimes is the case - is upstairs in Galleries Club South Customer Services, since there is always a ticketing agent on duty there.

Any AUP on an Avios booking will not get TPs and Avios. Or rather, it isn't supposed to get them.
