You got luck. Other passengers were not so lucky. There is an excerpt from a complaint that we received in relation to travel this past November:
When we reached the hotel we were totally disgusted with the hotel and room. The first room we were given reeked of stale cigarette smoke and was dirty. They did give us a second room which not as smelly but was dirty, dingey, carpet stained and very poor lighting too dark for us to take pictures to show you.
The bed was most uncomfortable and on trying to get up in the morning [passenger's wife name] had severe back pain.
Passenger rights are to protect you when things go wrong, not for when things go well.

i.e. in FRA, I was put up in the Sheraton during IRROPS.
