As you rightly say, and despite the vociferous minority here, its not about champagne. Its about BA's premium pax, whether SCH/GCH or flying CW/F, being provided lesser services. I can't recall any apologetic message from BAEC, other than bland statements that (1) The LGW FLounge will close at 1500 daily for cleaning (liars!) and now that (2) The whole LGW Lounge facility is closing for many, many months (with a delay in implementation of the move to LGW South already being mentioned).

No, its not the end of civilisation. Its just yet another manifestation of BA's casual treatment of their regular (and in many cases high-value) customers*.

* I do not list myself in either category, now that most of our mileage is with AA these days!
